Create your first group and invite friends
Make a group, share one link on WhatsApp (or a QR code), and friends join without installing or signing up.
Join a group from a link
Open the link you were sent, enter your name, and you're in — no download, no signup. Optionally save the group to a free account.

Add an expense
Record who paid, how much, and who shares it — equal split by default, custom shares when you need them.
Scan a receipt and split by item
Photograph a receipt and SplitJar reads the items, so each person pays only for what they actually ordered.
Settle up with the fewest payments
The balances tab shows who pays whom with the minimum number of transfers — record payments, pay by UPI, or nudge on WhatsApp.
Set up recurring expenses
Rent, wifi, subscriptions — add them once in the recurring tab and SplitJar posts them automatically on schedule.

Is SplitJar really free?
Yes — free, with no ads. Every feature (groups, receipt scan, recurring bills, settle-up, CSV export) is included. No caps, no Pro tier to unlock.
Do my friends need to download an app or sign up?
No. Friends join from a link in their browser and use everything with just their name. An account is optional — it only adds syncing across their own devices.
Does money move through SplitJar?
Never. SplitJar only does the math and record-keeping. Payments happen directly between people — UPI, cash, bank transfer — and you record them in the group.
Can I use a different currency per group?
Yes — each group has its own currency, chosen when you create it.
Can I fix an expense after saving it?
Yes. Open it and tap Edit expense — amounts, payer, and shares can all change, and balances recalculate instantly. Settlements are kept in history too.
What happens when someone leaves a group?
Their past expenses and settlements stay — history stays complete and balances stay correct. Leaving never deletes the group's data.
