The Remind or Tell parent button is missing or won't open WhatsApp

Updated 25 Jul 2026

Check the student has a phone number

The Remind and Tell parent buttons only appear when the student has a parent phone saved. Open the student on the Students tab and add the number if it's blank.

Include the country code

WhatsApp needs a full international number to open a chat. If the reminder won't open, edit the student and make sure the number includes the country code (for example, a London number as 44…), with enough digits.

WhatsApp must be installed on your device

The reminder opens your own WhatsApp — so WhatsApp needs to be set up on the phone or computer you're using. Nothing is sent automatically; you always tap send yourself.
