A balance looks wrong

Check the History first
A card's balance isn't stored on its own — it's every "You gave" minus every "You got". Open the person and read their History for a duplicate or an odd entry.
Watch the entry type
A payment logged as "You gave" (or a due logged as "You got") flips the total the wrong way. Record a matching entry the correct way to bring the balance back in line.
Pending vs advance
A card in advance means the person paid more than they owed, so you owe them — that's expected, not an error, until you settle it.
