Raise an invoice or a delivery challan

Updated 26 Jul 2026

  1. 1Open Sales and pick the document

+ New invoice bills someone. + Delivery challan is for goods going out that you're not billing yet.

  2. 2Pick the buyer

Choose one you've used before, or type a new name to add them on the spot. A phone number is optional, but it's what lets you send the document on WhatsApp afterwards.

  3. 3Add the lines

Pick the style, set the quantity, and the rate fills in from that style's sale price. Change it per line when a buyer has their own price. The total adds itself up as you go.

  4. 4Save, then print or send

🖨️ opens a clean document — Tax Invoice or Delivery Challan — that prints or saves as a PDF. If the buyer has a phone number, 💬 Send opens your own WhatsApp with the number, amount and due date already written; you read it and press send.

Why a challan isn't a bill

A delivery challan records the delivery, not the money. It stays out of the buyer's balance, out of your To receive figure and out of the tax summary — that is the whole point of it. It does show in the sales register, marked Challan, so the movement is on the record.

When you're ready to charge for those goods, raise the invoice. That's the document that puts the amount on the buyer's balance.

Due dates and overdue

An invoice can carry a due date. Once that date passes, the invoice is flagged overdue in the Sales list and counted on the Overview, so your chase list builds itself.
